These figurines by Royal Albert are so sweet. They are of all the Beatrix Potter characters. We get one every Easter. They are precious.

Withstood the early 90's
on the radio today.
looked up who sings it.
it's a woman. not a man. in case you were wondering.
i wasn't. i knew it was a man.
but it's not.
it's a woman.
American Dream
Met a man tonight. He is from Hungary.
When he was 18 in 1956, he escaped Communism on foot. He made it to the border and was arrested. Then he escaped prison after a few days and hid in a farm house. Then he climbed over something and made it over the Iron Curtain.
He came to America with only the clothes on his body. He lived the American Dream and is affluent, has employed hundreds, and is helping others achieve similar success.
His schoolmate was in front of a firing squad. There was some sort of diversion and he escaped. He made it to America and has 46 patents in his name.
My new friend told me this is the greatest country and has little tolerance for the whining and complaining about it. And for the lazy and slothful.
I love this country.

Yummy
AB & MP & I headed down to Chicago.
Went to Adobo for dinner, next to Second City.
Then headed to a renowned pastry chef's spot: Hot Chocolate.
Yum. We had chocolate and fruity desserts that were both a "kiss on the cheek" and a "punch in the face" (as per our waiter).
And of course, we drank hot chocolate that's to die for.

It'sa Mario!
Got my hands on a copy of Mario Cart for Wii.
Lots of fun.
Also got Wii Fit and the new Star Wars games pre-ordered while I was at Game Stop. Wicked excited to play with light sabers.

English countryside holiday
We had a book/brochure on English country homes for rent. I looked at it for hours. I would love to rent a cottage in the English countryside someday. Talk about tranquility.
This one is in Derbyshire :)
Can't help myself
Seen these yet? I finally got a pair. Not high quality, but still cute and cheap.
Remember, I have a fetish with all things nautical? It's been around for my entire life...
Get them in red, green, blue, or tan.

Pat the Bunny
Recognize this book? I think there are about 5 floating around in our family. Why? Because it is a beloved baby book. We all loved it, and Sammers loved it. It was his favorite. Mine too.
may 2008
One Easter (I was 2) I got a Pat the Bunny in my basket. I was so excited. This bunny has had lipstick and perfume put on him, traveled near and far, and been a pillow for tears. I love him.

Finally
I got my favicon to work. Took me forever. Designed by Natty.
UPDATE
A favicon is the little icon next to the web address. For blogger, it's the orange "B". For Apple, it's the Apple logo, etc.
So look up at your tab and/or your address bar and you should see a little blue "W."
That's my favicon. Thanks Natty!

Coochicoo
While searching for the perfect first year birthday present for the babycakes, I came across this awesome site. I especially like the art section. Ok, I like all the sections...let's be honest.
But since he is a little boy, I will probably just get him something like the toy lawnmower I got him a few months ago (he LOVES it).

Guess who else I saw
Anna & Melissa !!
Yep, Anna and I have been bestest friends since Kindergarten and we became bestest friends with Melissa when she moved to our school in second grade.
Anna plays a mean oboe and went to Eastman for school and stayed in Rochester to teach and play for the Rochester Phil. She and her husband have a cutie puppy.
Melissa was visiting Anna.
And then bang! I came into town on my trip and got to spend a couple of hours at night with them all. It was wonderful. All we needed was to have Bethany and Jenny there. Then we would be complete.
Fancy meeting you here
I went to Kirtland in hopes of seeing Heather's sister who is serving a mission there.
No dice.
BUT
I did run into the cute and charming Sis. H. We went to London together on a study abroad and had many mutual friends. Love her.
In the car
Since I've been living half of the last two weekends trapped by a seatbelt, I have totally missed "Movie of the Week." Apologies all around.
This week's movie is in honor of my being bound to a car for hours and hours and hours.
The Great Race
Funny, long, funny, goofy, quoted often by me and T.
Love it.

Available for viewing and download
Day 1
Tell me what you think. But, there are like 800 bajillion million, so I don't expect you to make it through them all. I put all of them up: the good, the bad, and the hideous.
Locations: vans, Kirtland, Ohio, Palmyra, NY, Fayette, NY
Bridesmaid Dressies
Today my sis and I and the little guy are headed up to Madison to get fitted for bridesmaid dresses. We are having them made so they can be modest, which is obviously hottest :)

Not that hard
It is not hard to please women.
From an Apostle of the Lord:
"You young men must cultivate a considerate attitude toward women of
all ages. The young women asked me to tell you that they want you to
respect them and show them common, sincere courtesy. Do not hesitate to
show your good manners by opening a door for them, taking the initiative in
inviting them on a date, and standing as they enter a room. Believe it or
not, in this age of equal rights, the young women want you to extend these
simple courtesies."
(M. Russell Ballard, "Purity Precedes Power," Ensign, Nov. 1990, 37)

Weekend Trip
This weekend I was with 50ish friends visiting Church historical sites in Ohio and New York.
It was in no way relaxing, but it was most refreshing and wonderful.
12-passenger vans led to fun times as well.
Some highlights:
-Sacred Grove
-Hill Cumorah
-Kirtland Temple
-All the houses
-Randomly seeing a dear friend
-Hanging out with two long long long time friends
-Playing sausages and Scripture baseball in the vans
-Almost getting killed (not really, but joking about it for several days)
-Sleeping instantly whenever I got in the van in the morning
And of course, I took way more photos than perhaps may have been necessary, but that's what I love to do. So I will have more up and a place to download them all for fellow travelers.
Photo is of the Whitney home in Kirtland, OH.

I'm going bye bye for the weekend.
Hopefully I'll see people serving where I am going.
Double hopefully I'll get to see a bestest friend.
