Yummy Clam Chowder

I don't really like clam chowder from the can.  I've gotten picky with food in my old age.  Here are some instructions on how to really love clam chowder :)

Step 1: Go out for chowder on a cold, rainy day on the bay.

Step 3: Start with cold, slimy raw oysters.  Be with loved ones.

Step 4:  Eat clam chowder that tastes like no other clam chowder in this world.

Who is it?

Saw this in the SF.  It looks like Katharine Hepburn posing as Marlene Dietrich in sticker format on a street sign above Lombard St.  Weird.

18M

My nephew turns 18 months old today.  What did we do without him?
Poor thing had to spend a few hours at the hospital last night.  But we knew we had our Sammy back when he saw his teddy and said "woof" and then gave it a big hug.
He is the sweetest boy alive.  We love him to pieces.

To him
Mommy = "Mommy"
Daddy = "Daddy"
Nana = "Nana"
Grandma = "Mommy"
Grandpa = "Daddy"
Whitney = "Whahwee" (i still can't quite figure a good way to spell what comes out of his mouth)
Lindsay = "Zeezees"
Tracy = confused look and then "Zeezees"
:)

oh how we love our Sammy.

:(

Almost everyone is sick who is related to me in a 30 mile radius.  All with different things.  And no mom in town to be mom.
Had to take baby to the hospital because he was violently vomiting.  It was the saddest thing.

Eddie

This is Edward Hilgemeier, Jr. He is my grandfather. This is the only picture we have of him.  He started the whole unearthing of the quiz show scandals in the 1950's.  I saw a picture of him on a show on PBS once and one in TIME a few years ago, but my cousin found these today:

They are from LIFE magazine.  The first one has my Nana in it (pregnant with my mom) and my uncle as a baby.  I've never seen a picture of them together, let alone my Nana during that time period.
See the captions here.
Read about him here.

Betty Brinn Children's Museum

We're headed back to the children's museum in the morning.  That's where we play while mommy sings.

Pixar

I don't think I ever blogged about my visit to Pixar.  Did I?  Well, I will.  Just not now, I need to go nighty night.

French Macaroons

When I was in Paris, I had the most amazing macaroons.  So whenever I'm in a big city, I try and find macaroons that are just as satisfying.  So I told Kara I wanted to find some in San Francisco and this was right down the street from my hotel.  They were tasty and I loved savoring them, but nothing can be as delicately tastey as those ones in Paris...

Cold Feet

Scott let me borrow his moon boot down slippers the other night.  I put two hand warmers in each and my feet were happy.  So naturally I had to investigate down slippers.  These are from Zappos.com.

Walking on sunshine

He would wake up at 6 am to go to the beach.  Now he doesn't ask to go out in the 0 degree weather.

Alterra on the Lake

This is an old utility building right along Lake Michigan.  Now it is the hippest place to hang out on a warm summer night or a cold winter afternoon.  Alterra is a coffee company, but they make yummy hot chocolate and hot cider and food for the rest of us.

Camille and Micah - Hawaii - Film

Camille and Micah.  They were so cool.  So cool.  And I don't know how someone could be married for 5 years and have a baby and still look that good in her wedding dress.
