Fascination at the Library
When I was little, we always went to the library. What kind of books did I make a b-line for and always want to check out? Cookbooks. I was a strange child.
Found this old gem that looks fun. That's right. I haven't changed.
You can download The White House Cookbook for FREE here. Saweet. { thanks mom :) }
I also love these cookbooks, available anywhere... I think...

Flashback Friday
My mom decided that Fridays are going to be a flashback with food. She will make dishes she made 25+ years ago when my parents were newly married. My dad loves it. The rest of us are like whatever.

Exhausted
So the other night at 2 am, a pipe burst in my parents' bathroom down the hall. Apparently there was much commotion and running up and down the stairs and yelling for needed supplies. They say it was quite the hullabaloo.
I heard nothing.
Smells like Christmas
Get home from work around 10:30 pm.
Mom: "That's what Dad said."
Me: "Whatcha making?"
Mom: "Peach bread."
Me: "Oh, did we have bad peaches or something?"
Nana: "She's smart."
Mom: "I live with the biggest ingrates!"
Laughter galore ensued.
oh and ps: it was really yummy (as you can see).
While watching movies
Sometimes I don't pay any attention to what I'm supposed to be paying attention to.
Like I'll be looking at how nice someone's hair is, or how they have one tooth that is a certain way, or how there is no possible way that she would be doing that in that outfit, or wow they really made him work out for this movie.
Well, in Iron Man, when the bad one is chasing Pepper Potts, all I could think was "how in the world is she running in those 5 inch heels!?!?" instead of "oh I hope he doesn't catch her!"
Well, I still don't know how she ran in them, especially considering this. Ouch.

Summer Job
The smell of mulch and cigarette butts lingers outside of the office. Reminds me of when I used one of these to pick up garbage and people's used cigarettes around the corporate park (we also spread mulch).
Favorite memory: My friend MB used one pick-up-stick to operate another pick-up-stick and grabbed some garbage off the side of the road while hanging out the car window as we drove by. It was amazing, and possibly the best day of my summer job life.

10 reasons I love summer
1. Hello, it's warm. and sunny.
2. The green grass, thick leaves on the trees, flowers, lightening bugs, starry skies...
3. It stays light forever. None of this get dark at 4:30 pm stuff.
4. Night time exercise or walks in the fresh night air.
5. Activities: boating, water skiing, swimming, Summerfest, State Fair, fireworks...
6. The food (berries, fresh everything) and eating out on the patio.
7. The smells (lilacs, freshly cut grass, moist warm air...)
8. Having the feeling I'm still young and on summer vacation
9. Actually going to the theater to see decent movies
10. Driving the Z3

Happy Memorial Day
So last Veteran's Day I was in DC (Arlington National Cemetery to be specific). I went up to a WWII vet and asked if I could meet him, and he gave me a big hug and proceeded to tell me stories. He was so cute. He wanted to know where my boyfriend was and just kept talking to me. I made a new friend :)
I am grateful for Veterans and all they have done for us.

Narnia
Walked into work last night and j says, "I saw Narnia and you look just like Lucy!"
Great. Just what I wanted. To look like an 8 year old.
j: "You know the one with the arrows!"
r: "You mean Susan."
j: "Oh yeah, Susan. You look just like Susan."
Ok. I can handle that. Especially since Susan is a female Legolas AND gets to kiss Prince Caspian.
Oh, and I think Peter's hair is perfect. As is Caspian's (just needs to be a bit shorter, but still quite lovely).
In honor...
...of Laurence Olivier's birthday today, the film of the week is one of my all-time favorites: Rebecca.
He seems so perfect.
From bottom to top
Ben can't dance diddily.
Jack is over the top, as usual.
and
Robert has gone from strong dislike to a new fav this month.
let's just hope he keeps off the drugs.

This is what I saw tonight
Filled with Envy
Heather reminded us all about the Sundance resort full moon rides. Oh how I want to go! Being thousands of miles away kinda makes it difficult. blah.

Saw it again
I did. I have a new favorite superhero.
As my mom said, "When are they coming out with Iron Man 2?!?!"
here here.
oh and ps: the website is awesome (do full screen mode!)
Let's think about this one...
an ad in gmail came up at the top:
www.fatloss4idiots.com
hello? oh, people feel bad already about body image, let's just call them idiots too.
sheesh...

Windy Ridge
Park City, Utah is great fun. Walking around Main Street, skiing, hiking, whatever! it's fun.
However, all of the restaurants on Main St. are, personally, overpriced.
Thanks to the Food Network, I found this delight. It was delicious. I was there for a late lunch and had a yummy sandwich and THE best onion rings I've ever eaten. It's away from the hip part of town, but not too far. So the next time you are in PC, hit up Windy Ridge. {looks like they have other restaurants too... makes me want to try them...}

Sleepover
My sister's husband is on a camping scout trip thingy. So she and the baby are sleeping over!
Remember sleepovers? Eating junk food, playing, talking all night, watching a movie that you could barely keep your eyes open to finish, sleeping on the FLOOR in a sleeping bag.
Yeah, this sleepover went more like this: I came home late, said goodnight to my sister, looked at the baby sleeping perfectly, and went to bed. Not quite the same...

The Coterie
I love this blog (totally inspired me), but mostly I also love the girl behind it. And the name! How perfect is that! I knew Heather and her husband (and his sister) at school. Remember how she generously gave me photo tips? Well, she also is complementary too.
Ultra Screen
What is it?
Let them explain:
The UltraScreens, with razor sharp three-story tall picture, crystal clear digital sound and comfortable stadium seats are Marcus movie magic at its best.
Basically, it is (as Tracy would say) a screen on crack. And I love it. If it isn't on the UltraScreen, I usually don't go to the movie theaters (I know, I'm a bad film graduate).
BUT
I did see Iron Man when it opened, on the UltraScreen of course (had no idea what I was going to see). People: Go. See. It. Now.
And guess what is coming to town?!? Prince Caspian. Please be good, please be good, please be good...
and hello cute guy from the beginning of Stardust (love that movie!) who is playing the Prince.
Bless Your Beautiful Hide
Seven Brides For Seven Brothers is on TCM on Saturday.
I like how she is wearing a quilt in this picture.
Good songs in this one: group songs. Bad songs: The one where she sings out the window while he is in the tree... it makes me uncomfortable every time... I shrink during awkward songs, live and in movies.
