For those who didn't grow up in Milwaukee, let me tell you about St. Nick. Actually, let me let Wikipedia tell you about St. Nick. Go to the section that says celebration in the United States. And then you will see why one must grow up in Milwaukee to know what is going on.
Growing up, we would put out our shoe at night with hay and carrots (for St. Nick's horses). St. Nick would then leave candy and small gifts.
There was never any confusion with Santa and St. Nick. I saw St. Nick as the olden-day European Santa...
