Cuz we almost did. We floated down the river without shoes or life vests. It was fine the first time. But the second time, we were weak. My older (but smaller) sis got pulled under, then I got sucked down and ran over her body. I heard through the water "Grab her!" and looked up at the light through the water. I grabbed her body and we surfaced somehow. Coughing and gasping for air, everyone swimming peacefully at the swimming hole was staring at us.
I would totally go back to the Firehole River Swimming Area. I would just be more prepared the next time.
