Jamie Riley, photographer

I work with ridiculously talented people. One of my team members took these pictures of me and my eye. He just set up a light after a work meeting and started snapping away. Jamie takes incredible photographs and has had some of the most interesting jobs (like backpacking guide in Glacier National Park). I love friends.

Atlantic

BFF Michael lives a block from the beach. And in a bike riding community. Not fair.

I'm bad at maps

I love iPhones. And friends who can read maps so I don't have to. Although I am fascinated by them.

"Wait... I wanna take a picture"

My close friend is an artist and can do a little bit of everything. He didn't mind one bit when I would want to stop and take pictures in Europe, because he would do the same thing.

High school best friends

It's crazy but it really does feel like we should still be in high school.
Too bad we just get together when someone gets married or Christmas. Missing Jenny's face.

Holtom kiddos

I used to babysit these kids when there were only two out of the four.
They are spunky and incredibly intelligent.
From my DC visit this summer.

Friends' engagements

I have a friend (now married) who was adamant about not being proposed to in a restaurant.
I've never been a big fan either.

But another friend proposed at a restaurant and I think he did a good job.

It was at a fancy restaurant on the 95th floor overlooking Chicago. The ring came in a chocolate box and a message. Then they went for a carriage ride through the city. Nice work Steve!

Chris

This is my friend Chris. He moved to my neighborhood in sixth grade - two houses down from a best friend. I was his first table partner at his new school. He was the first person I met who had a metal rod in his arm (I didn't know they did that to people).
We were in orchestra together. Middle school classes. High school classes. Everything.

Music genius at the cello. Rock star on electric bass. Quantum science lover (in eighth grade). Academic decathlon national champion. The kind of guy who barely passed high school because it was so boring for him.

One day he woke up and joined the Marines. He now knows Arabic and dialects of Arabic. He is a linguist for the Marines. They love him.

Turned out to be quite the stud in a uniform.

BBQ for real

My friend Nick is from Texas. He sent me this sign at a restaurant he went to in Texas to prove to me how serious they are down there about their BBQ. Once his family even drove 3 hours for some good BBQ.
Crazy. But I so want to try some.

Megan + Shane

My NYC friends and hosts.
Shane would let us go play all day while he was at class or doing homework and then come home and make us dinner (after standing in line with us to try and get cheap Wicked tickets).
Megan loved everything I loved and never had anything bad to say about anything. She didn't care that we took a nap and that I slept for two hours one day.

We were perfect together exploring the city.

Columbia University married student housing

Megan & Shane's apartment was huge for NYC. And architecturally delicious.

Megan

This is the girl I was lucky enough to walk all over NYC with. We met in January 2004 at an event in the film department at BYU. We've been friends ever since.

Holga + Flash

I got home from NYC on Saturday. It was a fun trip. I shot only film while I was there, so pictures and stories will be later.
I also got a bunch of film developed from the last few months. Here are some Holga's from a dance back in February. This is the first time I've used a Holga indoors.

New idea

I want to do a project called "Friends in Milwaukee" where I take pictures of friends in different parts of Milwaukee...

I'm going to recruit peeps. So get ready. This weekend is supposed to be nice, so it may start soon.

Birthday

It's my birthday.  It is also my friend Sarah's birthday.  We have been friends since we were little babies.  She has two older sisters, and I have two older sisters.  Needless to say, we were all best friends and celebrated everything together.  Happy Birthday twinner :)

The picture is of us celebrating when we turned two.
